Bed Bug Pre-Cleaning In South Carolina

A bed bug infestation can happen anytime, anywhere.

Bed Bug Prep Cleaning

We offer bed bug pre-cleaning services for commercial and residential clients in South Carolina, North Carolina, and Georgia. Although we do not treat for bed bugs, we can work with your pest control company to ensure that the treatments are the more effective than pest control alone, saving additional exterminating services. Although pest control companies don’t always agree on the best bed bug pre-cleaning methods, they generally agree that decluttering your home, removing all trash and debris, washing all linens on high heat, removing infested furniture, thoroughly vacuuming all ceilings, walls, crevices, bedding, upholstered furniture, and carpeted areas, removing switch plate covers, and many other steps, should be followed to guarantee that heat and/or chemical treatments work.

Most pest control companies recommend drying all linens in the home or office on high heat for a minimum of 30 minutes.  Most homes are not equipped with commercial dryers, so drying the linens at their home can be problematic and may burn up the heating element in a residential dryer.  We do not wash the clothing, as the heat of the water is generally not hot enough to kill the bed bugs or eggs.  When the laundry has completed the dry cycle, it will be extremely hot.  We do not currently offer folding services.  We will wait for the clothing to cool, then place the clothing in new bags, tying each one to ensure new bugs cannot get into the freshly dried clothing.

We also offer vacuuming services throughout the affected rooms.  Pest control companies generally recommend thoroughly vacuuming each wall, crevice, baseboard, carpet or other flooring, mattress, box spring, and upholstered furniture when bed bug pre-cleaning.  Many pest control companies also recommend removing outlet covers and switch plate covers, so the pest control chemicals can be placed inside.  Additionally, many pest control companies recommend moving items at least 12″ – 24″ away from the wall, so that the pesticides can thoroughly reach all areas of the wall and floor.  For more information on bed bugs in South Carolina, visit DHEC’s site at https://scdhec.gov/index.php/blogs/traveling-worried-about-bed-bugs-here-are-3-fast-facts-protect-your-family-home.
